CONCORD, NC - With the 1st event in the books for the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup and Winter Cup Series, the focus shifts to Race #2 for both series respectively. While Daytona will serve as the only joint venue for the 2 programs, it is important to note that the all-new Winter Cup program will adhere to the same guidelines as all other national series programs. With many drivers looking to gain an edge going into race #2 for the Winter Cup Feb 5-7 at 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, teams and competitors must adhere to the same policies with regards to practice on track prior to a national event.
Keeping in accordance with the other national series mandates, there will be no on track activity the Monday through Thursday prior to a national event. With that being said, realizing that 103rd Street is a public facility, WKA cannot forbid competitors from taking laps on the course, provided they run a different configuration than what the national layout will be. Any competitor, planning on running the second Winter Cup event at Jacksonville, will be automatically disqualified from the series second event if they are found to have taken laps on the nationally selected course.
This rule will be administered collectively between the World Karting Association and the North Florida Kart Club, in an ongoing effort to not only maintain the integrity and fairness of the national event, but also prevent the club and city from a disruption in any revenue to their normal program.
