CONCORD, NC - The Eagles will be soaring high this weekend in West Virginia as the VEGA/TS Racing National Road Race Series will host their Grand Nationals this weekend at the legendary Summit Pont Motorsports Park. With the season winding down quickly, there are many points battles that are extremely tight, as competitors will be afforded Bonus Points for this weekends activities. Many drivers will try and lock up their national title. If not, the Fall Nationals at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky October 23-25 will carry even more weight.
The tightest battle in points is B Stock, where Randy Fulks and Tom O’Reilly are deadlocked for the lead with 348 points apiece. The Streeter Super Stands Stock Leopard class finds Walter Troup currently holding a 163 point lead over Jay Ellis with 2 races to go.
Chris Hines currently leads both Stock Honda 1 and 2, with Keith Buffo and Michael Hines in hot pursuit. A tight battle also exists in the Animal 385 class as Brent Hadden is holding onto a slim 40 point margin over Rob Garland Jr. Meanwhile, the elder Garland, Rob Sr, has a comfortable margin at present over Bill Lewis in the Van K Wheels Animal Masters 410 class.
Another great battle to watch for the balance of the year is in the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy class where Tim Linthicum has just 20 tallies over Bill Holder for the title. 20 points also separate William Morsperger from David McCauley in the Matthai Material Handling Yamaha Heavy class. Animal 360 is also a tight class heading into the weekend with Blake Beattie edging Zach Linsell by 49 points.
Travis Miller leads the KALL Racing and Millers Dynotime Racing Formula 100 class into town this weekend, holding a 135 point advantage over Michael Tracy while Tracy leads The Agile Group sponsored 100ccControlled Class by 315 points over Adam Myers.
53 National classes will be eligible to run for a Grand National Eagle this weekend, along with 9 Local Option Classes, added by the Woodbridge Kart Club.
Action for the Road Race Grand Nationals gets underway Friday with a full day of practice starting at 8:30am. On Saturday, practice begins at 8:30 with the days first races slated to kick off at 11am. Practice will begin the same time Sunday with racing action slated for a 10:15am start.
