Atlanta Grand National for Road Race Series Getting Close
CONCORD, NC - The final exclamation point to what has been one of the more interesting seasons for the Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series presented by Russell Karting is nearing, as competitors prepare for the season ending Grand National event at the Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia September 16-18.
With the season shortened to 4 races, and the June Summit Point event serving as the most recent event for the series, drivers are eager to tackle the 2 mile Atlanta layout, featuring 86 feet of elevation changes.
Drivers that have run the previous 3 races this season will be awarded 50 Bonus Points for running all 4 National Events this year. Additionally, 6 of 8 races in the Final 1/Final 2 classes are being counted this year in order to be eligible for year-end awards recognition and a shot at a national championship.
Entries are rolling in at a rapid pace, with the event expected to hit very large numbers. Activities for the Grand National event will get underway with parking slated for Thursday Sept 15 from 3-7pm. Pre Entry Pickup for the event that day will run from 4-6pm.
On Friday, the track will go hot with practice from 9am-4pm. Saturday and Sunday activities will get underway each day with the first race hitting the track at 9am for Group Practice, followed by the days first events.
