02.25.2016 - Winter Cup Titles to be decided at GoPro Finale

CONCORD, NC 2 rounds of competition in Florida the past 2 months will culminate March 4-6 at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina, as WKA will crown 8 champions in the inaugural WKA Winter Cup. Of the many battles to be determined, the Briggs and Stratton LO206 Junior class is one of the best, with just 5 points separating Daytona winner Hunter Fox from Jimmy Cole Jackson, the winner of 1 of 2 events at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida earlier this month. Nash Duyn currently holds the third spot down with Day 1 Jacksonville winner Cody Hall fighting for the third and final awards spot. Mark Steube currently rounds out the top 5 with Cade Frazier, Ryan Rogers, Daytona winner David Kalb Jr, Matt Miller, and Brian Van Cleve rounding out the current top 10.

The story in the senior version of the Briggs and Stratton LO206 Class is a little different as Corey Towles, the Day 1 winner at Daytona, currently holds a 175 point lead over 2 time winner Sean Meier, as Towles consistency has paid off big time. Matt Mayes, fresh off of some strong results from Jacksonville, holds onto third in the standings, with Mike Greiner and Michael Clark rounding out the top 5. Top ten are made up of Zack Skolnick, Patrick O’Neil, Jax winner Jason Yarbrough, Hannah Grisham, and David Vasquez.

In the IAME USA East Pro Swift Sportsman class, Jason Welage and Connor Ferris have been the big winners this season with Ferris taking a win at both Daytona and Jax. However, Welage’s win at Jacksonville, combined with his consistency, have the defending 3 time Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup champion in the lead by 50 points heading into the final event. Robert Noaker III currently leads the charge for the final step on the championship podium in third followed by Kaden Wharff and Annie Rhule for the top 5. Top ten include Zane Maloney, Gray Leadbetter, Ugo Ugochukwu, Ashton Chilton, and Luca Mars.

While Wharff is fighting for a top 3 in Pro Swift Sportsman, his Allison Racing Engines Yamaha Sportsman win at Jacksonville has placed him in a position to challenge for the title, with Robert Noaker III, the event sweeper at Daytona, as well as Day 2 Jax winner Jason Welage, leaving the top 2 in a virtual deadlock for the title, with Wharff 120 points back, but comfortably in the third and final podium spot. Eli Trull and Luca Mars round out the top 5 with Annie Rhule, Connor Ferris, Taylor Maas, Madison Campeau, and Rylee Engel making up the top 10.

Parity has reined supreme in the Water For A Cause Kid Kart Class with 4 different winners finding victory lane so far this season. Karsyn Walters Day 2 win at Jacksonville has the young driver in total command of the point standings though, sporting a 175 point lead over Ayrton Grim, with Jax Day 1 winner CJ Bowman currently third, followed by Dusty Larson and Austin Olds. Daytona winner Ava Dutton is currently sixth in the standings with Preveil Perkins, Daytona winner Indy Ragan, Samuel Igua, and Aubrey Adams rounding out the top 10.

Former Kid Kart competitor Caleb Gafrarar impressively leads the charge in the CRPRACING.COM Mini Swift class. Fresh off his Day 2 win in Jacksonville, Gafrarar leads Nicholas Terlecki by 50 tallies heading to the finale. Sebastian NG, as well as Jax Day 1 winner Brent Crews, and Eli Trull round out the top 5. Making up the top 10 are Danny Dyszelski, Daytona winner Jeremy Fletcher, Sam Corry, Benjamin Maier, and Perra Granger.

Lance Fenderson brings the best winning percentage of all drivers into Mooresville, having won 3 of the 4 events in the Woltjer Racing Engines Pro IAME Junior class. After splitting with Vincenzo Sarracino at Daytona, Fenderson swept at Jacksonville, and sports a 100 point edge over Alex Bertagnoli, with Pauly Massimino, Sarracino, and Ty Gibbs the top 5. Completing the top ten are Emil Schulz, Joshua Maloney, AJ Zale, Sam Tisdale, and Jacob Abel.

Much like Kid Karts, the KartSport North America Pro IAME Senior class has seen 4 different winners, with points leader Brandon Jarsocrak still looking for his first win. Jarsocrak leads Jax winner Braden Eves by a slim 30 point margin, with Daytona winner Brandon Lemke, Jonathan Kotyk, and Daytona winner Elliott Findlayson making up the top 5. The top ten are rounded out by Calvin Ming, Austin Schulz, NASCAR Sprint Cup driver AJ Allmendinger, Jax winner Mike Giessen, and Abby McLaughlin.

With the stage now set, competitors will go through an all day practice session Friday, with qualifying, 2 sets of Heat Races, and a Final, rounding out each days activities. Following podiums for each days top 3 finishers, the 2016 Winter Cup Champions, as well as the second and third place finishers will also be established, with awards also on hand for the champions and top recipients of the first annual WKA Winter Cup.

02.24.2016 - Fisher Racing Engines adds to Road Race Sponsor List

CONCORD, NC - As competitors prepare for the 2^nd round of the Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series presented by Russell Karting, the sponsorship list continues to grow. Joining the list of sponsors, beginning at the March 11-13 event at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, Georgia is Fisher Racing Engines. 02.24.2016 - New Master Membership Program Good till April 30

CONCORD, NC - As announced last season, World Karting Association continues to offer new Master Members of the organization a tremendous discount on an annual membership. Instead of paying the $55 annual membership fee, new Master Members can pay $30 for a full 1-year membership. This deal, however will be expiring April 30. So while there is still time, no time like the present to jump on board and be a part of the most exciting kart racing in the country, featuring the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series, the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series, the Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series presented by Russell Karting, and the all new WKA Winter Cup program.

02.24.2016 - Reservations Rolling in for Year End RR Awards Presentation

CONCORD, NC - The second of 3 major awards presentations for the national series of the World Karting Association will be held in just a few weeks for the National Road Race Series. Following a full day of practice Friday March 11 at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, Georgia, site of stop #2 for the Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series presented by Russell Karting, competitors, family members, and friends will gather at the Bloomingdale Community Center to honor the 31 national champions, as well as a ton of many other recipients of top 10 honors, not to mention many special awards, including the latest induction into the World Karting Hall of Fame for 1 lucky karting individual. Doors for the Road Race Series Awards presentation will open at 7pm, with dinner at 7:30, and the awards beginning at 8pm.  Tickets are $25 per person, and can be purchased by going onto the World Karting website.

02.24.2016 - Spooner General Contractor Joins Gold Cup Sponsorship Program

CONCORD, NC - On the heels of the major announcement last week regarding Tiered fees and significant purse payouts for best overall finishers in certain classes in the 2016 RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series, sponsors have been lining up to become a part of the excitement for the new season for the top 4 Cycle Sprint program in America. The latest to join is Spooner General Contractor, sponsoring the second day of competition for the Sportsman Pro Gas Animal Lite class. While the Sportsman Pro Gas Animal Lite class will be listed as a Trophy Class during the weekend, competitors in that class still have a shot at a $200 payday during the 10 lap Friday Night Shootout race, immediately following practice.

The 2016 season for the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series kicks off April 15-17 at the ever-popular 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

In addition to the Shootout races for both Sportsman and Junior Pro Gas, each paying $200 to win, $100 for second, and $50 for third, as well as trophies for the top 5, several classes, including Senior Pro Gas Medium and Heavy, as well as Senior LO206, will run for the chance for a driver to come away with a $500 weekend payday, with $250 going to second and $100 to third of the best overall weekend finishers.   The same will apply to drivers in the Junior Pro Gas Lite and Heavy classes, with Senior Pro Gas drivers also having a shot at some extra money in the Friday night shootout race.

02.14.2016 - Carl Overton passes away

CONCORD, NC - An old friend passed away this week. Carl Overton. Member of the WorldKarting Hall of Fame Carl was Vice President of WKA for many years through the late 70s and well through the 1980s. He served alongside my father and was a tremendous support. He served the membership and truly loved the sport of karting. He and his wife Yvonne were very involved with the WKA Enduro program back in the day. He was instrumental in the growth of WKA in the early stages. His dedication and passion for the sport of karting was as strong as anyone. RIP Carl you are a true karting legend.

02.14.2016 - Clarification Regarding Road Race Drops for 2016

CONCORD, NC - In recent weeks, there has been some confusion regarding the status of drops for the 2016 Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series driven by Russell Karting. With 5 national events on the schedule this season, competitors will be allowed 1 drop in their program, counting their best 4 of 5 national events, and 7 of 10. However, if a competitor competes in all 5 national events, he/she will receive Bonus Points for attending all 5 events this year.

Also, the season finale September 16-18 at Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia has been designated as the Grand National event. While bonus points are usually given at the Grand National, they will only apply if this race, being the 5^th of 5 races, is indeed the fifth WKA National race a competitor has run all season long. If a competitor has missed any races leading up to the Grand National event, he/ she will not be receiving  Bonus Points at that event, but will obviously be eligible for the Grand National Eagle.

WKA hopes this helps to clarify any questions or concerns people may have had with regards to the proposed drops, in light of the fact that some were unable to attend Daytona, or may not be able to make the rescheduled July race at Dominion Raceway, now 1 week later than the originally scheduled VIR July date, which had to be changed due to a paving project now scheduled for that same month, thus shutting down all activity for the track for that time frame.

02.10.2016 - Jax Gold Cup Entry Blank Now Online

  2016 Gold Cup Season Loaded for all Competitors

CONCORD, NC - The series of discussions, dating back to the September, 2015 season finale in Barnesville, Georgia for the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series has netted some major results and advancements heading into the 2016 national racing season for the top 4 Cycle Competitors in America.

With the major topic of discussion being a potential increase in fees for the overall betterment of the program moving forward, WKA Officials have devised a plan in which every participating national points class will have something bigger and better to run for in the New Year.

Falling in line with the financial tier system that is currently utilized by the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series with great success, competitors in the Gold Cup Series will also follow the same formula, based on their status of Trophy or Pro Class.

Starting with the Senior Pro Gas Medium, Heavy, and LO206 classes, competitors will pay a Tier 1 fee of $265 per class, which includes their practice fee per class as well. The end result of this fee will net drivers in each of these classes the opportunity to come away with a $500 payday for the weekend per class as the best overall finisher. 2^nd place overall will come away with a $250 payday with third place receiving $100. The top 3 in all classes will still receive awards each day as well.

The same formula will also be in place for Junior Pro Gas Lite and Heavy competitors, sporting a $265 Tier 1 Entry Fee, with the top overall finisher receiving $500 to win with $250 for 2^nd and $100 for 3^rd per class. Competitors in the Junior LO206 Class will fall into the Trophy Class category, which will sport a different entry fee, as they will not be eligible for a purse payout.

Drivers in the Sportsman Pro Gas Heavy class will also run for a $500 to win payout, with $250 for 2^nd, and $100 for 3^rd. Sportsman Pro Gas Lite and Sportsman LO206 competitors will fall into the category of a Trophy Class.

So in all, 6 classes will be vying for $500 to win paydays, with $250 for 2^nd and $100 for 3^rd.

Tier 1 Fees for the Trophy classes will be set at $215, which, going by last years Tier 1 system, is no more than a $15 increase per class. However, competitors in Trophy classes also have a shot at $100 to the overall class winner, if their classes entry count exceeds 10 or more entries for the weekend.  The classes that will be listed as Trophy Classes include:

Kid Kart

Sportsman LO206

Sportsman Pro Gas Lite

Junior LO206

Masters LO206

Additionally, the Friday Night Shootout Races for Sportsman and Junior Pro Gas Classes will still take place, with competitors racing for a $200 to win payday for 10 laps of racing, with $100 for 2^nd and $50 for 3^rd. Trophies will again be available for the Top 5 finishers, with the Entry Fee remaining at $25.

The Senior Pro Gas Money Race will also remain intact with competitors running their unique event with a 75% payback based on class participation. Entry Fee will remain at $50 for the event, not only giving drivers additional track time, but yet another shot at some great purse money before the weekends activities get underway for the points classes.

On top of this, the 2015 Year End Awards Presentation, scheduled to take place at the season opening event April 15-17 at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, will also mark the return of Champions Rings to all the 2015 National Champions as well.

Sponsors are lining up fast for what is looking to be an awesome season of racing for Americas premier 4 Cycle Sprint Series, including major participation from Briggs and Stratton, as well as Brads Heating and Cooling, Coyote Motorsports, Mikim Motorsports, new sponsors Water Medic, Boon and Sons, Jim’s Marine, Trackside Kart Supply, Inferno Racing Clutches, and MattMillerracing.com. 02.10.2016- WKA Welcomes Kelly Frazier to Concords Office Team

CONCORD, NC -World Karting Officials are proud to announce a continued expansion to the Concord, North Carolina office with the appointment of Kelly Frazier to the office staff. A native of Charlotte, North Carolina area, Kelly’s knowledge and passion for sports, along with her vast background in office administration, as well as top notch customer service, add to a trio of personnel already in place that has well served the needs of the karting community. “We are very excited and thrilled to add Kelly, only a year after hiring Buddy Long as yet another excellent customer service representative to the WKA Family” stated WKA President John Ferris. “Led by our Office Manager Marie Borsuk, her sister Jeanne Harrison, who serves as WKA’s Membership and Points Administrator, among many other duties, the team in place at this time is one of the strongest in the history of the organization.”

02.09.2016 - Tier 1 Deadline for GoPro Winter Cup Fast Approaching

CONCORD, NC - With many competitors just returning home from the WKA Winter Cup Series second event at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, the window is quickly closing to cash in on the Tier 1 Deadline for the series finale March 4-6 at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. As mentioned earlier, WKA will be handling the parking for the event. So all requests need to be submitted via fax, email, or phone to Buddy Long at the WKA Office in Concord, North Carolina.

Deadline for Tier 1 is Thursday Feb 11, with the Tier 2 deadline slated for Feb 24.

02.09.2016 - Welage Leads Winter Cup Winners at Jax

CONCORD, NC - The second round of the inaugural WKA Winter Cup Program could not have been labeled more precisely, as bone chilling temperatures, accompanied by occasional rain, challenged the efforts of driver and crew all weekend at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida. However, the end result was a success witnessed by the large crowd of spectators in attendance. The February Winter Cup also marked the return of 2 Cycle racing to Jacksonville under the WKA umbrella for the first time in many years. With 103^rd Street serving for many years as THE Stop for 2 cycle racers back in the day during Daytona KartWeek, the eventual construction of a sprint track in the infield at Daytona International Speedway, enabled all three parts of the Daytona KartWeek puzzle to fit in together in one place, thus ending a long run down the 1,000 foot backstretch for quite a while.

The February return to 103^rd brought back memories for many in the 2-cycle world. And when the dust settled, a driver who was oblivious to racing at Jax the last time 2 cycles were there, ended up on the top shelf of the podium twice for the weekend, as Jason Welage scored the overall wins in the Allison Racing Engines Yamaha Sportsman class, as well as the IAME USA East Pro Swift Sportsman categories.

Other overall winners for the weekend included Jason Yarbrough, leading again another very strong contingent of Briggs & Stratton LO206 Senior class competition, Brent Crews in the CRPRACING.COM Mini Swift class, and Lance Fenderson the top dog in the Woltjer Racing Engines Pro IAME Junior class. Bradon Eves took top honors for the weekend in the KARTSPORT North America Pro IAME Senior division, while Karsyn Walters took the top spot on the podium in the Water for a Cause Kid Kart class. And Jimmy Cole Jackson topped all comers in the Briggs & Stratton LO206 Junior class.

For Welage, consistency would be the name of the game on Day 1, as the 3 time Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Champion from 2015 would shadow Kaden Wharff across the stripe in the Yamaha Sportsman Class. For Wharff, as well as anyone else that became acquainted with the 1,000 foot backstretch at 103^rd Street, being in the right place on the right lap is everything, especially in Jacksonville, as Wharff laid claim to the win. The top 2 were chased across the stripe by Annie Rhule, Eli Trull, and Rylee Engel for the top 5, with Welage taking the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time Award.

Welage would again find second as the spot in the IAME USA East Pro Swift Sportsman Class as Connor Ferris took the victory on Saturday, with Robert Noaker III, Annie Rhule, and Ashton Chilton completing the top 5. Welage again would be the recipient of the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time Award.

In other Saturday action, Brent Crews fended off the efforts of Sebastian Ng for the win in the CRPRACING.COM Mini Swift class. Caleb Gafrarar rode home third on Day 1, with Danny Dyszelski and Nicholas Terlecki completing the top 5. Eli Trull, the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time winner, rode home 6^th.

For the second race in a row, the Allison Racing Engines Pro IAME Junior class did not disappoint, as Lance Fenderson turned back the efforts of Ty Gibbs for the win. Fenderson was also the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time winner. Chasing the top 2 across the line were Vincenzo Sarracino, Alex Bertagnoli, and Pauley Massimino.

Coming to Jacksonville, many in attendance in the Briggs & Stratton Racing LO206 Senior class knew Corey Towles would be tough to fend off, following a stellar Daytona performance. But Jason Yarbrough was one of those who dug in the trenches a little deeper, and was able to secure the Day 1 win over Towles, with Michael Clark, Matt Mayes, and Patrick O’Neal rounding out the top 5. Towles was able to secure the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time Award on Saturday.

If your name was Bradon or Brandon, the front was the place to be on Saturday in the KartSport North America Pro IAME Senior class, as Bradon Eves held back the efforts of Brandon Jarsocrak and Brandon Lemke for the top honors. Calvin Ming and Comet Kart Sales Fast Timer Jonathan Kotyk completed the top 5.

For the second time in 2 races, competitors in the Water for a Cause Kid Kart Class had to be on Cloud Nine. First the chance to run at Daytona, then the long backstretch at Jacksonville, which made the most minimal speed of a racing weekend seem like 100 mph. And for CJ Bowman on Day 1, that was the case, as the young driver scored the win over Comet Kart Sales Fast Timer Karsyn Walters, with Ayrton Grimm and Dusty Larson following closely behind.

Cody Hall successfully wrapped up Day1 action, taking the highly competitive Briggs and Stratton Racing Junior LO206 Class, as one of the top young Gold Cup standouts bested fellow Gold Cupper Mark Steube, Ryan Rogers, Jimmy Cole Jackson, and Nash Duyn. Steube took the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time award.

Sundays action found another recent Kid Kart graduate in the form of Caleb Gafrarar scoring his first career win in the crpracing.com Mini Swift class. To understand and appreciate the transition of these drivers from the beginning level to Mini Swift, you have to see it for yourself, as the mere difference in speed alone makes this an impressive step up to the next national level class. Chasing Gafrarar across the stripe was Sebastian Ng, followed by Comet Kart Sales Fast Time winner Brent Crews, Sam Corry, and Nicholas Terlecki.

Lance Fenderson roared back on Day 2, not only sweeping the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time honors, but also the Allison Racing Engines Pro IAME Junior class, again being chased by Ty Gibbs, with Pauley Massimino, Vincenzo Sarracino, and Alex Bertagnoli making up the top 5. With the win, Fenderson became the only driver for the weekend who was able to sweep his class and take the Checkered Motorsports Trophy, signifying Lance as the overall class winner for the weekend.

For Jason Welage, his runner up fortunes would change in the Woltjer Racing Engines Yamaha Sportsman class on Day 2, as he checked in for his first win of the weekend, topping Robert Noaker III, Rylee Engel, Comet Kart Sales Fast Timer Kaden Wharff, and Eli Trull for the Top 5.

Welage would back that up, also taking the IAME USA East Pro Swift Sportsman class, topping Noaker, Ferris, Wharff, and Rhule.

Not to be denied at his home track for a national class win, Sean Meier turned back the field Sunday, taking the finale for the Briggs and Stratton LO206 Senior drivers, topping Matt Mayes, Corey Towles, Jason Yarbrough, and Mike Greiner. Meier also claimed the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time award for the day as well.

Returning to victory lane as well was former WKA National Champion Mike Giessen, laying claim to the Sunday portion of the KartSport North America Pro IAME Senior class, topping the 3 B’S, with Brandon Jarsocrak, Saturday winner Bradon Eves, Brandon Lemke, and Derek Dignan for the top 5. Dignan’s top 5 run was quite the comeback, following a grinding crash on Saturday in which his tie rod broke, sending him crashing through safety barriers, thus placing a serious crimp in his ride as well. Dignan was fine. Jarsocrack took the top pole honors for the class.

On the heels of a second place run the day prior, Karsyn Walters roared back to take the Comet Kart Sales Fast Time award, as well as the Day #2 win in the Water for a Cause Kid Kart class, topping Ayrton Grimm, James Newell, Dusty Larson, and Samuel Newell.

The finale for the weekend found Jimmy Cole Jackson taking the Briggs and Stratton LO206 Junior class finale, besting Nash Duyn, Cade Frazier, Mark Steube, and Andrew Willis, with Frazier taking the Fast Time honors.

All overall winners for the weekend received a special Overall Winners Cup for the weekend, courtesy of Checkered Motorsports.

With 2 events in the books, the series will wrap up its inaugural season at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina March 4-6, where the first ever WKA Winter Cup Champions will be crowned.

CONCORD, NC - As competitors from the northeast and Mid Atlantic continue to dig out from the first major snowstorm of the season, thoughts of the 80 degree weather from Daytona KartWeek are but a distant memory, as the reality of the winter months of racing kick into full gear.

Not far off in the near future lies spring, and with that, the second major event for the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series April 1-3 at Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. Race #2, the Praga North America Nationals, will also mark the first race of the season where the Manufacturers Cup Series breaks away from the Winter Cup program, as 8 national classes, headlined by the KARTSPORT North America Pro IAME Senior group, will tackle the ultra modern Mooresville facility. Pro Swift Sportsman and Pro IAME Junior competitors will again battle for the top overall prize of $500 to win, with $250 for second and a set of Bridgestone Tires for third, while Pro IAME Senior drivers will again battle for the $1,000 top prize for the weekend, with $500 going to second, and a set of Bridgestone Tires for third.

Activities for the Praga North America Nationals get underway with a full day of practice Friday from 9am- 5pm, with Practice, Qualifying, 2 heat races per class, and a Final, making up the days action on both Saturday and Sunday.

CONCORD, NC - As competitors busily eye the pivotal 2^nd stop for the inaugural WKA Winter Cup Series Feb 5-7 at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, the other eye is focused on the series finale as well, March 4-6 at Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. 01.21.2016 - WKA Mfg Cup Names Red Line as Official Spec Oil

CONCORD, NC - World Karting Association Officials are proud to announce the designation of Red Line Synthetic Oil as the Sole Official Spec Oil provider for the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series, effective immediately. Since 1979, Red Line Synthetic Oil has grown to manufacture more than 100 quality products, including Two-Stroke and Four-Stroke karting oils, as well as many other products, including gear oil and pre-mixed coolant for karts, motorcycles and ATVs, as well as motor oil, ATF, gear oil, assembly lube, fuel additives and WaterWetter™ coolant additive for automotive, powersports and industrial markets.

For the last several years, Red Line has been a participant in the WKA Manufacturers Cup Spec Oil program, joining several other companies, providing Two-Stroke oils for many Two-Cycle national competitors.

There are two eligible products for the WKA Mfg Cup program: Red Line Two-Stroke Racing Oil (#40603 for 16oz, #40605 for gallons) and Two-Stroke Kart Oil (#40403 for 16oz, #40405 for gallons) Both products are identical in formulation and are available from Red Line’s large distribution network of karting and traditional distributors, including Dreamworks/Franklin,  Comet, TS Racing, Cameron Karting, CKT Engines and many local shops. The implementation of Red Line as the official sole spec oil for the Mfg Cup Series, a two-year agreement, commenced at the Margay Sprint Championships December 27-30 at Daytona International Speedway for the latest edition of Daytona KartWeek. While the WKA National Road Race Series is also part of a spec oil program, that series will continue business as usual with competitors following the Spec Oil Program guidelines that have been in use all of 2015.

01.20.2016 - CKI’s 16 Daytona wins pace KartWeek Road Race Field

CONCORD, NC - While 11 wins by different chassis’s in 20 races on the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series was a pretty awesome start to a year, there were also at least 13 different chassis that scored a win for the first national of the year at Daytona KartWeek for the Dunlop/Xeramic National Road Race Series presented by Russell Karting, led by a familiar face, CKI. Officially known as Competition Karting Incorporated, located in Welcome, North Carolina, the small shop, while located in the neighborhood with the Sprint Cup Series mega operation which is Richard Childress Racing, came to life yet again as the giant in the Road Race karting industry in its own right, netting 16 victories as part of those 13 different chassis companies, in the process, again taking a huge lead on the first lap in a race for constructors supremacy.

Led by Midwesterner Rick Fulks who pulled off wins in the Tru Stripe sponsored B Stock Class, as well as both days in 100cc Controlled competition, the CKI logos were flying in the breeze, sometimes at a clip of well over 140 mph on the backstretch of the World Center of Racing. Sharing in the triple success of Fulks was southerner Blake Beattie, taking the Hoosier Racing Tire Animal Lite class, as well as both days in the Clone LO206 Lite competition.

With 6 of the 16 wins shared by 2 drivers, Tim Linthicum added his name as a 2 time CKI winner, taking the CKI Yamaha Sportsman Medium Class, as well as the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy division of racing, giving 3 drivers half the CKI wins at Daytona.

And while the lead is good coming off the line, another chassis emerged as a solid Daytona contender, as Hatcher Chassis impressively scored 4 wins in the season opener, led by Ryan Hatcher, a winner in the Foster 4J Ranch sponsored Yamaha Medium class. Hatcher also scored a win in the Kion/Linde Forklifts sponsored Yamaha Heavy class, while fellow Hatcher drivers John Brown and Rusty Benson scored the other 2 wins, both in the respective Matthai Material Handling 100cc Piston Port Classes.

MGM, the 2014 Manufacturers Constructor Champion, registered 2 wins with Stephen Wheatley responsible for both, the Hoosier Racing Tire Animal Lite class, as well as Animal Medium.

Brian Wilhelm led the charge for Owl Chassis, taking the win in the Rev Clean sponsored Formula 125 class, while Mitch White claimed the other victory in The Agile Group sponsored Unlimited class.

Margay checked in for 2 wins for the week, with Milo Schoonover taking the Millers Dynotime Racing Formula 100 class, while Adam Trumbley took the other in WKA Sprint.

The only other chassis to register 2 wins over the Daytona KartWeek timeframe was Velocity, with wins by DJ Hoelzie in both Sprint 125 Shifter events.

01.20.2016 - Gold Cup Series Finalizes 2016 National Schedule

CONCORD, NC - The final piece to the puzzle for the 2016 National Schedule for the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series has been put into place, as WKA Officials have announced a return to the Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina for the series finale, as well as the Grand National event October 7-9. The completion of the schedule for the 4 Cycle competitors caps off what has already been a great start for the LO206 Junior and Senior classes, following a phenomenal start at Daytona for KartWeek in the first annual Winter Cup Series event, in which 40 Senior competitors took to the track, along with a strong field of 17 Juniors.

While that momentum will continue Feb 5-7 at 103^rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, and March 4-6 at Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina, the season will just be beginning a month and a half later when the Gold Cuppers hit Jacksonville for the season opener April 15-17. Adding the 2 events at Kershaw, as well as a return for the 4-cycle contingent to the Midwest at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana, the run for the Gold Cup crown will be tougher than ever.

In addition to the April Jax event serving as the season opener, the event will also mark a return for the Year End Awards presentation, once held at the track, and at other times during the course of history at other locations in the area. The Awards Presentation will follow the Friday Afternoon Money Events, which will again return to the lineup, headlined by the pair of $200 to win Sportsman and Junior Pro Gas Shootout races, along with the annual Senior Pro Gas Money Race to wind down the Friday on-track action.

As many have seen quite a few months ago, the Class Structure for 2016 has changed a bit, with this year serving as the first year in many without any Methanol classes. In its place will be an all-new Masters Senior Class for LO206 competitors age 40 and older. The class will run a Final 1/Final 2 format each race weekend. A change has also occurred with the Senior Pro Gas Class, as competitors will run a Medium and Heavy class in 2016, again running a Final 1/Final 2 format. All totaled, the daily class count will remain at 11 per day with a mix of LO206 and Pro Gas Classes offered in Sportsman, Junior, and Senior. The Kid Karts will also run the LO206 package again this year.

The Entry Blank for the Jacksonville event is currently under construction, and should be available next week, along with a Banquet Form for competitors wishing to make their reservations for the 2015 Year End Awards Presentation.

With the 2016 schedule now in place, work has already begun on 2017 dates and venues, which will indeed be out much earlier for people to view. Additionally, there are also some exciting new twists to the 2017 schedule that will include even more of a variety of tracks in different locations, thus helping to balance out the definition of National Schedule.
