CONCORD, NC - Stop #2 for the WKA Bridgestone/Mazda Manufacturers Cup Series at Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina was not only greeted by Mother Nature at the beginning of the weekend. But the queen of the wet weather also showed competitors to the door Sunday evening, as heavy, torrential rain dominated the bulk of the weekend’s activities in the IAME USA Nationals.

Despite the weather challenges for the weekend, racers dug in deep, providing some awesome action for both Saturdays qualifying races, as well as Sundays Finals, at times leaving Go Pro Motorplex Track President Dan Kraus to wonder if he wanted to rename the track Go Pro WaterPlex for the day!!!

Headlining Victory Lane were 3 repeat winners from Daytona, as well as one 2- time weekend winner in Pauly Massimino.  Zach Holden, Nick Snell, and Dakota Pesek returned to claim their 2nd consecutive wins in their respective classes.

For Holden, the victory was especially sweet, not just in the points category. But his victory in the KartSport North America Pro IAME Junior class was also worth a cool $500 for the weekend. Holden held of Daytona Yamaha Junior winner and the weekends Fast Time winner Brandon Lemke in claiming his second series win of the season. For his second place effort, Lemke pick up $250. Following the top 2 in the 21-kart field were Alex Bertagnoli, a recipient of a set of Bridgestone Tires, with Jack Miller and Samuel Paley finishing close behind.

Pesek made it 2 in a row in the Zero Error Racing Yamaha Senior Pipe class, this time fending off the efforts of Derek Hughes. Hughes is set to make it a tight battle after finishing 3rd at Daytona, making for a tight race points race heading to Dousman, Wisconsin in late May. Tony Peterson took 3rd while Daytona runnerup and Fast Time winner Nick Landi, along with Mike Gnad completed the top 5.

While Snell joins Holden and Pesek as repeat winners, his victory came in a different class over the weekend. While scoring the win at Daytona in the Grand Products Comer Rookie Sportsman Class, the young driver returned this past weekend to take the top honors in the New Jersey Sprint Series Yamaha Rookie Division. The win gives Snell a 1st and 2nd in the first 2 events of the season in this class, as he and Donald Whorton II, the Daytona winner, took runnerup honors. Following the duo across the stripe were Brent Crews, Owen Mahle, and Lucas Smalec.

IMG 1954.low

Possibly one of the most anticipated, and clearly most enjoyable races of the weekend came in the CRP Racing Kid Kart Class, as 16 drivers tackled the 11 turn course with a vengeance, bringing people to the fence, and giving the series a great look into the future of the program. Much like the battle between Nick Snell and Donald Whorton II, Caleb Gafrarar and Adam Brickley have staked their claim as two of the heavy favorites for the national points title. After Brickley took the win over Gafrarar at Daytona, the battle lines were drawn at Go Pro in the wet weather with Gafrarar taking his first Mfg Cup national of the year with Brickley this time in the runnerup spot. Sam Corry chased the pair to the podium with Daniel Dyszelski IV and Sofia D’Arrigo completing the top 5. While this is the youngest, and least experienced class on the national level, every competitor in the Kid Kart ranks left parents, fans, as well as officials smiling from ear to ear with a top shelf performance the entire weekend.

Another bright spot on an otherwise gloomy weather weekend was the addition AND turnout of the IAME Swift Cup Class. Added as a Local Option Class for the balance of the year, 23 drivers charged out of the paddock all weekend long, giving fans a preview of yet another strong class for the balance of the season. Taking the inaugural win in the class was Pauly Massimino. A regular at Daytona in the Yamaha and Pro TaG Sportsman classes, Massimino laid claim to the win on Sunday, topping Ugo Ugochukwu, Connor Ferris, Dante Tekampe, and Robert Noaker III. As mentioned, the Swift Cup Class will continue on the 2015 schedule when the series heads to Briggs and Stratton Raceway Park in Dousman, Wisconsin May 29-31.

Ugochukwu would not be denied victory lane completely, as the Tony Kart racer roared back to take the $500 top prize in the DRT Racing Pro TaG Sportsman class. While not claiming a win over the weekend, Noaker III did the next best thing, taking yet another runnerup finish, backing up his second place effort from Daytona. The runnerup spot also gained Noaker $250. Jason Welage claimed third, along with a set of Bridgestone Tires, while Pauly Massimino and Daytona Yamaha Sportsman winner Gage Rogers completed the top 5.

The big guns in the senior category roared to life late in the day as Jacob Donald snared the $1,000 prize in the HYTORC of Texas Pro Leopard Senior Class. Derek Dignan rolled across second for a $500 payday, with Nick Landi scoring a set of Bridgestone Tires for his third place effort. Olivia Horn and Calvin Ming completed the top 5.  IMG 2192.low

A strong field of 22 drivers paced the Woltjer Racing Engines Yamaha Junior field Sunday with Geo Bromante coming out on top for his first national win of the season. David Malukas improved 1 spot from his Daytona finish with a runnerup placing, with Daytona runnerup Zach Holden coming home 3rd. JP Southern Jr and Samuel Paley completed the top 5.

Bradley Zilisch joined Jacob Donald as $1,000 winners over the weekend, snaring the win in the Tillotson Pro X30 Senior class. Derek Dignan was second on Sunday, taking home a $500 payday, while Dustin Stross continued his strong performances in the class, backing up his second place Daytona run with a third in the second national of the season. As a result, Stross earned a set of Bridgestone Tires. Alexander Kardashian and Pete Maletto completed the top 5.

While the weekend found quite a few smiling faces, the biggest however, belonged to Pauly Massimino, the only repeat winner of the weekend. After making history with the IAME Swift Cup win, Massimino polished off his weekend by claiming top honors in the Comet Kart Sales Yamaha Sportsman class. After a third place finish in this class at Daytona, Massimino has emerged as one of the front-runners for the title. Another driver who appears destined to challenge for that title is Jason Welage. Sundays 2nd place run at Go Pro gives Welage a pair of runnerup finishes in the class, making the Battle at Badger a good one next month. Completing the top 5 were Robert Noaker III, Tyler Ferris, and Madison Campeau.

Despite the weather challenges all weekend long, series officials were pleased with the weekends efforts by all, and wishes to thank EVERYONE for an outstanding job of pulling together under adverse weather circumstances all weekend.

The next stop for the Bridgestone/Mazda Manufacturers Cup Series will be a return to Briggs and Stratton Raceway Park in Dousman, Wisconsin May 29-31 for the Spring Nationals. For more information on the weekends activities, click here.

04.20.2015 - WKA Extends Thanks To All Manufacturers Cup Competitors

CONCORD, NC - On behalf of WKA President John Ferris, the WKA Board of Trustees, Office Staff, and Race Officials, a huge Thank You goes out to all competitors, crewmembers, Moms and Dads, Sponsors, as well as the management of Go Pro Motorplex, for helping to pull together on a mainly rain soaked weekend and make this past weekends IAME USA Nationals for the Bridgestone/Mazda Manufacturers a great success in many ways!!!

The rain greeted competitors on Thursday for Parking Day, thus making everyone aware that Mother Nature was going to play a huge part in the weekends activities. However, thanks to joint efforts by Dan Kraus of Go Pro Motorplex, as well as the WKA organization, parking, pre entry pickup, and tech, started well before their published times on Thursday, primarily in an effort to accommodate competitors in the midst of unpleasant weather circumstances.

With a bleak weather outlook on Sunday, the WKA organization assembled key race officials, members of the Mfg Cup Competition Committee, as well as many families in the pit area early Saturday morning, notifying them of their intentions for a revised program, allowing everyone to be a part of the decision making process, again letting the pit area know their input is greatly valued and appreciated. The results of the meeting were then expressed in the Drivers Meeting, which was met with great approval.

The end result of those discussions, given the occasional torrential downpours on Sunday, turned out to be a success, as drivers still were afforded the opportunity to run their pre finals AND finals, thus putting smiles on faces of competitors, strong in the knowledge that the WKA organization cares very deeply for their membership, and will continue to involve them in the decision making process in all areas moving forward.

While a recap of the weekends activities will be forthcoming, don’t forget the next event for the Bridgestone/Mazda Manufacturers Cup Series will be a return to Briggs and Stratton Raceway Park in Dousman, Wisconsin May 29-31 for the Spring Nationals. Pre Entry information for the event is now available online.

CONCORD, NC - Stop #2 for the WKA Vega/TS Racing National Road Racing Series was met with quite a stiff challenge from Mother Nature in the series return to Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, Georgia just a few short weeks ago.
Heavy rain on Thursday evening left track officials with no choice but to go with Open Practice on Friday morning, as competitors patiently waited for some cooperation from the Georgia sunshine. Once better weather prevailed, competitors had the chance to practice with their assigned group, in preparation for what unfortunately would be the only race day of the weekend on Saturday, as once again, rain reared an ugly head to the Sunday activities at the track.
But Mother Nature wasn’t the only major winner of the weekend though, as Matt Michel,  Robert Garland, and AJ Ellis were able to secure a couple national event wins before the rains came again on Sunday. For Michel, his success came in the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy class, taking the win over Bill Holder and Tim Linthicum. Michel would also come back for the win in Yamaha Sportsman Lite, this time besting Brandon Schenkel for the top spot, while Linthicum would again find a third place finish.
Garland started his day off with a win over Joe Cuslidge in the Clone LO206 385 Final 1, while Rob Garland would race home 3rd. Garland would also snare the Van K Wheels sponsored Animal Masters 410 Final 1 on Saturday, taking the top honors over Robert Wimmer and James Cartledge.
Ellis took Yamaha Sprint Final 1 Saturday in the early going, then returned to the track later in the day to best Richard Russell in WKA Sprint Final 1 action.
And while the field boasted some repeat winners, the female participation on the top shelf of the podium Saturday also ranked high as Mandy Doles, Amy Hollowell, and Abigail Tobin all found victory lane. For Doles, her win came in the Yamaha Sportsman Sprint Final 1, while Hollowell bested Travis Waddell and Corey Norris for the win in Junior Sprint Lite competition. Tobin, not to be denied, was the top dog in Animal Junior Sprint Lite action. Here’s a look at some of the other finishes in Saturdays action at Roebling Road.

CONCORD, NC - With Daytona Kartweek well in the rear view mirror, competitors in the Bridgestone/Mazda Manufacturers Cup Series are chomping at the bit to hit the racetrack again.
And that will indeed happen next weekend as the series makes its 2nd career appearance at the ultra modern Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. Nestled in the heart of NASCAR Sprint Cup, Xfinity, and Camping World Truck Series race shops, the opportunity for drivers to again shine, right in the shadows of another huge NASCAR stage continues.
While no 1 driver found the top shelf of the podium at Daytona more than once during Kartweek, the list of winners joining the Go Pro event is once again strong.  Headlining that list are Daytona Hytorc of Texas Pro Leopard Senior winner Dustin Stross from Connecticut, as well as Kartsport North America Pro IAME Junior winner Zach Holden from Indiana. Dakota Pesek, winner in the Simpson Performance Products Yamaha Senior Pipe category will also be back to see if he can make it 2 in a row. In the younger age groups, Ohio’s Nick Snell returns to Go Pro for a shot at another Grand Products Comer Rookie Sportsman win while Pennsylvania’s Robert Noaker III will return for another shot at a win in the Franklinkart.com Komet Sportsman class. Joining that duo will be Donald Whorton II, in search of a repeat in the New Jersey Sprint Series Yamaha Rookie Sportsman Class.
Also joining the race order will be the IAME Swift Cup class, a new Local Option class that is prepared to join the series for the balance of the 2015 season.
And once again, there will be 4 classes that will award Money Payouts to the Top 2 in each class, with a set of Bridgestone Tires going to the third place finisher. Here is a breakdown of those 4 classes.

Tillotson PRO X30 Senior:
$1,000 to win
2nd: $500

04.07.2015 - WKA Approves New Super Divisional Program

04.07.2015 - WKA Approves New Super Divisional Program

div_logo_2012.png

CONCORD, NC - During its recent meeting in March, the World Karting Association Board of Trustees voted to approve a new Super Divisional Program for 2015.

CONCORD, NC - During its recent meeting in March, the World Karting Association Board of Trustees voted to approve a new Super Divisional Program for 2015.

The new program, which applies solely to the Manufacturers Cup Series, encompasses divisional programs in the east, southeast, and midwest. The East Super Divisional will include the Great Lakes and New Jersey Sprint Series, hosting an event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania, while the Midwest Super Divisional will be held at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, Illinois. The Southeast Divisional will feature the Florida Karting Championship Series with 4 events at 3 venues, those being Ocala Gran Prix, Monticello Karting, and Orlando Kart Center.

The Super Divisional program is outlined below:

A Super Divisional must offer a minimum of 2 finals, Final 1 and Final 2.

A competitor must register and pay for entry into Final 1 and Final 2, take a competition green, and pass tech to receive 100 bonus points.

For every class you want transfer points, you must enter and pay for that same number.

Each Super Divisional can decide on 1 of 2 formats:

1 event weekend with Final 1 and Final 2, (Total of 2 Finals)

or

2 event weekends with 1 Final each weekend, (Total of 2 Finals)

It was the recommendation of the Divisional Series Committee, and passed by the Trustees, to increase the Divisional Transfer Points in a 4 race series to 100 points for Mfg Cup. Drivers earn 50 bonus points for competing in their first 2 events, and 25 additional bonus points for their third and fourth event for a total of 100 bonus points within a specific series.

Drivers can earn an additional 25 points if they compete in all of the events offered in their Divisional Series for a total of 125 bonus points.

Gold Cup Divisional points remain unchanged.

The Southeast Divisional, the Florida Karting Championship Series, with 4 events at 3 venues, will offer their racers the ability to receive up to 125 bonus points under the new guidelines.

“ We want to make sure the karter gets value and great awards for attending the inaugural East Super Divisional”, stated New Jersey Sprint Series Director John Ferris Jr. “ We will be lining up great sponsors and awards for this event. Our class structure will align with the Manufacturers Cup Series class structure. We will also have certified WKA Tech and Race Directors on hand to support the event”.

Great Lakes Sprint Series Director Mike Tetreault feels working with the New Jersey Sprint Series is a No Brainer. “ There is so much racing going on, and not enough time to hold a 4 race series”, stated Tetreault. “Many of our loyal supporters have conveyed this to me throughout the season. And I am holding them to our promise of always listening to our racers”.

With the huge void in the upper midwest the last few years, WKA will be heading back to Briggs and Stratton Raceway Park in Dousman, Wisconsin for a Manufacturers Cup national in May, thanks to the continued team effort of midwest trustees George Sieracki and Steve Jacobson, as well as the entire Board of Trustees.

“ The Board felt the best thing to do was limit the amount of races in an effort to achieve the maximum amount of bonus points”, stated WKA President John Ferris. “ This is what our competitors have wanted. And in my continued efforts to back up my statement of listening to our membership, this is the end result of what should be a great program”.

Here is a look at the 2015 Super Divisional Schedule.

Eastern Super Divisional: Great Lakes and New Jersey Sprint Series”

June 26-28: Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Wampum, Pennsylvania

Midwest Super Divisional:

CONCORD, NC - World Karting Officials are pleased to announce a very unique venture with the KART
Organization for the season ending event for the VEGA/TSRacing National Road Racing Series at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The event, slated for the weekend of October 23-25 will feature all the national classes for WKA, as drivers make their final bid for their respective 2015 national titles.
Blending into the racing lineup will be many of the classes from KART, providing one of the most challenging and competitive weekends of the year.
“ I would like to say, on behalf of the KART Organization, it has been a great pleasure working with WKA in putting together a combined event for the National Road Racing Series at NCM Motorsports Park, stated Kelly Read from KART. The KART Officials, along with KART membership, are so excited to have the opportunity to race at this facility and be a part of a major event in Road Racing. We have heard nothing but great news regarding this facility, and look forward to supporting this event. In conjunction with the WKA classes, KART will have their classes included into the schedule also. Along with supporting this event, officials from KART will be on hand assisting where needed. Bringing together 2 major organizations such as KART and WKA shows just how much these organizations are working together to keep Road Racing alive!!! I myself look forward to seeing everyone at this event. You won’t want to miss it as I’m sure that weekend of racing will be full of quite a bit of positive energy, leaving competitors with nothing but great things to say about the event, and looking forward to hopefully many more combined events in the future, as a result of the good working relationship”.
As preparation continues for this historic event in October, Road Race competitors still have a tough, competitive road to travel before Kentucky comes into focus. The next event for the Road Race series will be the newly added national event June 13 and 14 at
Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia. Information regarding the event will be posted on the WKA website next week. Here is a look at the balance of the season schedule for Road Race.

CONCORD, NC - The 2015 edition of the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series kicked off under brilliant North Florida sunshine, and a sense of overwhelming and renewed energy in the pit area, as the nations top 4 Cycle competitors took to the track for the Ionic Edge Chassis Nationals at 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

While the winners list found a few repeat names on the top shelf of the podium, the quest for victory did not come easy for any national winner. Headlining the list of winners were Aiden Baker Crouse and Jason Alder, both 4 time national winners over the weekend. Other multiple winners included Paul Headley, Andrew Willis, Jacob Heavlow, and Brently Miller.

Action began on Saturday with Brently Miller taking what would be the first of 2 national wins for the weekend in the Tyler Sandmeyer sponsored LO206 Kid Kart Class. Running 10 lap mains both days, Miller bested Owen Lloyd, Caleb Gafrarar, Jax Walker, and Asher Johnson. Miller wasted little time asserting his top position in Day #2, coming back for his second straight win. Lloyd and Gafrarar would again be second and third with Blake Boon and Jax Walker making up the top 5 on Sunday.

The quest for Crouse’s run at 4 national wins began Saturday with the Miller Welders Sportsman LO206 class. Despite the victory, Crouse was hard pressed the entire distance by Tanner Carter, who came home second, right on Crouse’s bumper. Mark Steube was third in Saturdays main with Danica Humphreys and Riley Kelley completing the top 5. Crouse’s run was no easier on the second day as Carter was right there, waiting for the slip, but had to settle for second. Jaxson Ghent rode home third with Steube and Kelley the top 5.

There were only 2 classes preventing Crouse from a weekend sweep, one of those being the Razor Chassis Sportsman Pro Gas Lite class, as Andrew Willis put an end to the streak with the first of his 2 wins on Saturday. While not able to score a win over the weekend, Tanner Carter received a ton of bridesmaid’s awards as a fierce runnerup to Willis in the Saturday show. Crouse had to settle for third followed by Steube and Kelley. Sunday’s action saw Crouse fire right back to the front, securing the 12-lap win over  Kelley, while Willis settled for third. Carter and Macon Moore completed the top 5.

Willis was also strong in the Baker Racing Engines Sportsman Pro Gas Heavy final Saturday, claiming his second win of the weekend over Crouse, with Kelley, Cale Hall, and Macon Moore making up the top 5. Crouse would once again find his groove on Sunday, taking the final over Moore, Steube, Hall, and Spencer Bush

Matt Miller scored his lone win of the weekend in a very competitive battle in the Thor Oil Junior LO206. Trading the lead back and forth with Jason Alder, Miller finally secured the lead, rolling on to his first national win of the year. Alder settled for second with Nash Duyn, Jimmy Cole Jackson, and Cody Hall completing the top five. On Sunday, the deck would shuffle again, this time finding Cody Hall in victory lane. Jackson improved a couple spots from the previous day for 2nd followed by Duyn, Alder, and Miller

Alders weekend, much like that of Crouse, came to life in the Van K Wheels Junior Pro Gas Lite class on Day 1 as the Maryland driver laid claim to his first of four wins, edging 2014 multi time champion Zach Wells for the win. Nash Duyn would come home third followed by Joshua Stark and Hunter Fox. Alder roared right back on Sunday for a sweep of the weekends action in the class, taking the win in the 15 kart field over Brian Van Cleve Jr, Matt Miller, David Kalb Jr, and Joshua Stark.

Alder would be declared the Junior Pro Gas kingpin over the weekend, also sweeping the action in the Brad’s Heating and Cooling Junior Pro Gas Heavy Mains, topping Wells, Jackson, Stark, and Hunter Fox on Day 1. Sunday’s finale found Miller, Alex Vrabel, Van Cleve, and Jackson chasing Alder to his 4th win of the weekend.

Some of the best races can always host the smallest fields. While Pro Gas and LO206 motors dominate the Gold Cup Program these days, the remaining methanol classes continued to wage a good battle. In the Animal Medium competition, Paul Headley took care of business, edging Jim Lipari and Cayla Chapman on Saturday for the first of 3 wins for the weekend, while Lipari snuck in for a win over the weekend, taking the Day 2 finale over Headley and Chapman.

In the Power Plus Lubricants Animal Heavy Mix class, Headley again took control of the day, securing the win over Josh Stiefel, Case Hall, Andy Jones, and Tim Stiefel. Sundays result may have been the same up front. But Josh Steifel continued to reel Headley in, only to fall short on laps. Headley held on for his third win of the weekend. Behind the lead duo were Jacob Connor, Andy Jones, and Tim Stiefel.

30 kart fields in the Coyote Senior Pro Gas Animal classes brought back great memories of the past, and a peak at the future of the Gold Cup program for many classes in all engine categories. Jacob Heavlow scorched the field on Day 1, taking the win over Florida product Sean Meier, with Tyler Smith, Zachary Linsell, and Corey Towles making up the top 5. Heavlow would do the impossible, taking the weekend sweep against some staunch competition, rolling back in victory lane for the Sunday show. Linsell improved up to 2nd on Day 2 with Matthew Travis, Aren Smith, and Tyler Smith making up the top 5.

Keeping pace with the Senior Pro Gas Animal class, the Briggs and Stratton Racing Senior LO206 Class has seen some growth with 20 competitors checking in for action both days. And the parity was evident as well with Evan Cowen taking the 12 lap win Saturday over Austin Queen, Patrick O’Neal, Brandon Murzyinski, and Haley Kummer. Sundays action saw new faces in the top five in some spots with Eric Fagan taking his first win of the year, besting Queen, Murzyinski, Michael Clark, and Camden Calland.

Late afternoon thunderstorms on Friday forced race officials to reschedule the Shootout races for the Sportsman Pro Gas and Junior Pro Gas Animal classes, as well as the Pro Animal Gas Money Race. But it was worth it. Tanner Carter erased the runnerup finishes in the points races with a victory in the 10 lap Sportsman Pro Gas Shootout, topping Aiden Baker Crouse, Cale Hall, Mark Steube, and Andrew Willis.

Meanwhile, the efforts to completely deny 3 time 2014 champion Zach Wells a shot at victory lane ended Saturday evening as the multi-time champ scored the win in the Junior Pro Gas Animal 10 lap shootout, topping Jason Alder, Nash Duyn, Brian Van Cleve Jr, and Matthew Miller.

23 Pro Gas Animal drivers checked in for their Money Race. The event, 20 laps in distance, was split into 2-10 lap segments with the leader at the lap 10 break drawing a pill to determine the inversion for the field. However, a blown engine on the track in turns 1 and 2 at lap 8 forced officials to revert back to the lineup at that juncture, after several competitors, including many frontrunners spun in the fluid on the track. While track cleanup took place during the break, Jacob Heavlow drew the #12 pill, thus inverting the top 12 for the final 10 laps. The end result was a sight to see as Heavlow used the draft on the long Jacksonville backstretch to work his way back to 2nd, falling just short of the win following a spirited battle to challenge eventual winner Zach Linsell for the win. Linsell rejoiced in his first ever Money race win, besting a star studded field that included Matt Mayes, Dustin Demattia, and Patrick O’Neal in the top 5 as well.

The weekend included the beginning of providing over $190,000 in contingencies to many drivers for their efforts in the top 3 all weekend, as well as $100 bonuses going to drivers in 4 classes whose entries equaled or surpassed 10 entries. Congrats to Jacob Heavlow in Senior Pro Gas, Austin Queen in LO206 Heavy, as well as Jason Alder in Junior Pro Gas Lite and Heavy for snaring the $100 awards in their respective classes. While Heavlow and Alder swept the wins in their respective classes, drivers must still produce top results in qualifying and heat races to maintain a low point average in order to attain the bonus. The higher up you finish in all phases of the weekend’s events in your class, the lower the point total, and the bigger the payday. While Queen did not sweep the weekends wins in LO206 Heavy, his results in his qualifying and the heat races netted him the lowest point total for the weekend.

Congratulations to all winners in Race #1 of the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series. Special thanks to Kyle Luttrell of Ionic Edge Chassis for sponsorship of the event, and to Steve Baker of Baker Racing Engines for implementation of the contingency program.

The next event on the Gold Cup schedule will be the weekend of June 5-7, the Kart City Performance Nationals at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. Activities begin Thursday June 5 with parking, while a full day of practice, followed by the 2-shootout events and the Pro Money race will take center stage on track Friday afternoon. Friday night at 7pm, the 2014 Champions, as well as many other competitors, will be honored for their efforts in an awards presentation at the Palmetto Club on the track property. CONCORD, NC - The 2 Moffett sisters are heading into the 2015 racing season with an opportunity to participate in the WKA RLV Exhaust Gold Cup Series.
Talia, 13, will be participating in the Van K Wheels Junior Pro Gas Lite and Brad’s Heating and Cooling Junior Pro Gas Heavy classes.
Talia, a past Class Champion at Midstate Kart Club in Illinois, made a trip to G and J Raceway in 2014 for the Michigan Kart Supply Nationals and the team was able to experience the Gold Cup atmosphere and people for the first time.
Madi, 12, also a past Class Champion at MSKC will be participating in the Thor Oil Junior LO206 class.
“As with every event we go to, we expect to be competitive, work hard and ensure we have a positive impact on the weekend of racing. “said MKG(MoffettKartingGroup.com) head Kevin Moffett. “They are both very competitive, but in their own way. If you tell Madi to do something on the track, you better be clear because she’s going to do it. Talia, she sometimes needs to be converted to your way of thinking. Converted, that’s a nice way to put it. We look forward to seeing how well they adapt to the series, the tracks and most importantly the other competitors.”
Talia, running a 2015 Coyote WT, powered by a Turner Racing Engines ‘Bad Boys’ Briggs and Stratton Animal, “This is a great chance for us to experience the Gold Cup racing all summer. Don’t know what else I could ask for. Racing with my dad, Bob, and Uncle Kevin is great, but also hard work as we are expected to turn wrenches as well. Madi and I have always been involved in the maintenance and prep work on our karts. Having Ryan Cassity to talk too about driving has been a great help as well.”
Madi, running her 2013 Coyote XP powered by a Turner Racing Engines ‘Bad Boys’ Briggs and Stratton LO 206, “Can’t wait to get this season going. Racing and traveling with family will be great and the pressure we put on ourselves is even higher than what Dad and Uncle Kevin can know. We are so happy with where we are, from the helmets Uncle Kevin painted up for us to spending time with all of the family at our local track. Also can’t miss saying thanks to Mom and Grandma for trying to keep us all in line.”
“We have to put a shout out to everyone that has helped, Ryan Cassity Racing and Coyote Motorsports, Cort Turner at Turner Racing Engines. Thank you to Russ, Tiffany and Brixley Wilkin at Work 4 It, Inc. for their much appreciated support.  We appreciate the team at Laukaitis Racing for having the parts on hand to get us through the season. Having Mike Curry, Matthew and Kent just a few miles up the road from home has been a blessing.”

And that energy just received another huge boost as pre entry numbers for this years edition of the Ionic Edge Chassis Nationals March 27-29 at 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida have equaled, and now surpassed those of last years TOTAL ENTRIES!!!

With the continued buildup of over $170,000 in contingencies from many fine sponsors, not to mention the incentive for any classes with 10 or more entries netting $100 to the overall weekends winner for those individual classes, many will be smiling in the North Florida sunshine all weekend long.

Included in those numbers are defending champions in every class from 2014.

Headlining the competitors in action this weekend will be Triple Class Champion Zach Wells, the defending titlist in Junior Pro Gas Animal, Junior Medium, and Junior Heavy Mix. Defending Senior Pro Gas Animal Champion Sean Meier will also look to defend his title with heavy competition from series runnerup Dustin Demattia and Tyler Sandmeyer. Also returning this year is 2014 Animal Medium Champion Jim Lipari, along with Animal Heavy Mix top dog Paul Headley.

The Sportsman Pro Gas Animal classes will be packed this season, all looking to unseat Lite and Heavy Champion Cody Hall, while LO206 Kid Kart Champ Jax Walker makes a return again this season as well. And while Sportsman Methanol may be gone from last year, that is not stopping last years champion Jason Alder from returning to challenge for another class title, this year in Junior Pro Gas Lite and Heavy, as well as Junior LO206 both days.  And finally, Matt Skaggs will return to defend his crown in the Senior LO206 classes.

Other drivers to watch out for include Matt Miller, Cayla Chapman, Blake Boon, Matthew Darden, Mike Greiner, David Kalb Jr, Tyler and Aren Smith, Joshua Stark, Jason Yarbrough, and tons of other top flight competitors!!!!

Also returning to the Gold Cup weekend is the return of Race Monitor. For those not able to attend the event, you can follow along with the weekends action on the WKA website. The app will also be available for people to download as well, allowing them to not miss a minutes action.

Activities begin on Friday with a full day of practice, beginning at 8:30am. At roughly 4:45pm, the first of three special races will take to the track, as competitors in Sportsman Pro Gas Animal and Junior Pro Gas Animal will have 10 lap shootouts, the top 5 receiving awards. Then it’s time for the Pro Gas Animal Money Race, featuring a 75% pay back to the top 5, based on entry count.

Action for Saturday and Sunday begins both days with a round of practice starting at 8:30am, followed by qualifying, heat races, and the main events!!!

"Huge name in the karting industry set for fresh start in Texas"

CONCORD, NC - January 21, 2015 - Changing the motorsports and karting market in
Texas, SpeedsportZ Racing Park, part of the Grand Texas project, is pleased to announce a new
face and name to their growing operation.

Manager, Alan Rudolph is set to make the move to Houston, Texas.
Wiping the previous slate clean, the multi-time karting champion and
Alan Rudolph takes on ownership role at new Texas
facility and launches his own driving school long time industry member will have a fresh canvas to build one of
karting's most sought after world-class facilities and driver
training programs, and establish the 'Alan Rudolph Racing Academy'
(ARRA) brand.

"I have fallen behind on the SpeedsportZ Racing Park timeline as I
have been busy solidifying Alan Rudolph in the key role in the
SpeedsportZ Racing Park," explained Tim Crawford, now Co-Owner of the
soon to be motorsports playground. "My search for the perfect person
came to a close recently and we have finally locked down a long term
agreement. Alan will be a Co-Owner in the facility as well as
President and Operations Manager. His deep network and friendships in
the industry are second-to-none."

Rudolph will have a fresh 25-acre area on the grounds of the 550 acre

and dreamed of since being a young karter. Uprooting his family ties
and moving to the Houston, Texas area, the new President will start
laying the groundwork for what is expected to be, one of the premier
motorsports facilities in not only the United States, but also the
world.

"I am excited and anxious all at the same time," explained Rudolph.
"I am leaving The Bondurant School of High Performance Driving which
has been a big part of my life for nearly 16 years. Bob has been a
great mentor and given me so many opportunities which I will always
be grateful for. Now I'm looking forward to a fresh start and getting
to work on plans for our multi-purpose facility."

Crawford added, "The first phase of the project will still include
the three basic elements that we had before in a dedicated rental
kart track, as well as a performance track and a performance pad,

rental facility to help attract new people to the sport of karting.
The performance track and performance pad will be the home of racing
karts and lightweight racecars. The new President will also develop a
high performance racing school for drivers with the emphasis on
karting, with general instruction on lightweight racecars also being
introduced. The goal of the Alan Rudolph Racing Academy programming
will have a long-term goal of becoming the top karting training
program in the world.

Rudolph added, "I am really excited to get working on this project,
it's truly my field of dreams and I can't wait to share it with the
world. There are many exciting things but the two I am most excited
about is my ARRA brand and my idea of a Karting Hall of Fame. It's
been a dream of mine to not only have my own track and school but
also the idea of a Karting Hall of Fame is needed in our sport and
what a better place than our track."

Located only fifteen minutes from the busy George Bush International
Airport in Houston, Texas, the SpeedsportZ Racing Park will quickly
become one of the must visits for karters and karting enthusiasts
alike.

Rudolph continued, "I wish I could announce all the relationships
that we are forming but we have a specific timeline, making sure we
cross all of our T's and dot all of our I's. We want to leave nothing
behind and make sure that we have the perfect plans and partners in
place. Some big industry news is yet to come."
